A great event if you are anywhere near Iowa City this weekend. It is part
of Iowa City's major local food festival, Field to Family.
Field to Family, Edible Iowa River Valley and Earth Expo to host
Food on Film: a night of film premieres about local food.
Screening at The Englert Theater, Iowa City, Friday, September 7, 8 pm.
As part of the 6th Annual Field to Family festival, Edible Iowa River
Valley, Earth Expo and Field to Family are delighted to sponsor Food on
Film, an evening of Iowa City premieres of insightful, funny and engaging
films celebrating local and sustainable food. The program will feature the
Iowa City premiere of Eat at Bill's, a documentary about California's ground
breaking Monterey Market. This film, made by tangerine farmer Lisa
Brenneis, is a giddy romp through the Monterey Market with market owner Bill
Fujimoto, and features interviews with Michael Pollan, Alice Waters and
other local food leaders. Other films shown will include selections from
the Media that Matters: Good Food series, a collection of shorts from around
the country on food and sustainability. There will also be a slide show
featuring local photographs celebrating the abundance of Central/Eastern
Iowa.
Food on Film will be on Friday, September 7 at 8 pm at Iowa City's historic
Englert Theater. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Englert
(319.688.2653), or on line at www.englert.org <http://www.englert.org/> .
Proceeds to benefit the Johnson County Local Food Alliance.
