We have hard soils and hard water and alkaline soils in general. For
example, nearly every book says the first thing to do is add lime.
Well adding lime to our soils will really screw things up.
Many of the farms with drip irrigation systems are adding sulfuric
acid to the irrigation water to acidify it as the water is so
alkaline. Organic folks are trying to add vinegar but the volumes are
huge. The test plots certainly grow better with the acid.
