Subject: [Graze-l] Marketing Natural Calves
Dear list friends,
We are a cow/calf producer in Montana and would like to market our calves as
"natural." Our old cattle buyers in our area are so steeped in tradition
that they don't even care if the calves are natural or not (when they heard
the calves had no implants they saw profit to be made by implanting them).
We would like to add value for our cattle operation if possible, but if
that's not in the cards we would settle for finding a buyer who wants
calves with no antibiotics or implants. We sold our natural calves last
year to one of our traditional buyers who told us he had no market for the
calves except the regular feedlots who use implants. Does anyone know of a
way to market these calves to a buyer who specializes in this type of
product? Thanks in advance for your help!
