I have built a wire winder that is driven by a hydraulic motor.
I used a 20 inch truck wheel rim and cut it in half across the rim as in
halving a pie! I welded one half and the other half is hinged and have it
adjustable I wind the wire on and then relaease the adjustment to allow
me to take the wire off. I find the best thing to use is 2 inch plastic
tape wrapped around the coil in 3 places to hold it in place until I wish to
wind it out on a spinning jenny
I have probably wound up 500 coils of wire from out of kiwi fruit orchards
using this.
Works a treat
