Good Afternoon List Friends,
This is an internet press release from the National Cattlemen's Beef
Association in the US:
http://www.beef.org/dsp/dsp_
content.cfm?locationId=45&contentTypeId=2&contentId=2357
It tells of "documented best practices will serve as the industry
blueprint for making beef even safer" which are being developed by the
Beef Industry Food Safety Council (BIFSCo). This is a unique group of
"representatives from all sectors of the beef industry including
cow/calf producers, feedlot operators, packers, processors, retailers
and foodservice operators to battle the industrys most complex food
safety issues as one cohesive unit."
The site for the BIFSCo documents is:
http://www.bifsco.org/
It has links to pages covering a whole range of issues, including:
-Bio-security
-Consumer Info
-Microbiological (pathogens)
-Physical (foreign matter)
-Chemical (residues)
-Animal Health (quality assurance)
-Food Safety Management
-Best Practices (processing)
This could be a useful site for organizations who are developing their
own best management practices - just to have an idea of what others are
doing in the field.
