I believe that I read somewhere that this had also been tried in Colorado,
and that test included sheep as well, with the same results. If I remember
correctly, their test included both infected deer & elk that were penned
with a mix of domestic animals including bison - but I am not sure about the
bison. CWD did not transfer to any of the other animals.
Every report that I have read indicates the same thing - that nothing other
than deer & elk can get this disease. Most of the hype over CWD appears to
be a lot of CYB (cover your backside) by government agencies that are more
concerned about their power and prestige than anything else. I am just glad
that I am not one of the many elk farmers in this state. Many of those
herds have been destroyed - probably many of then needlessly - because of
the heavy hand of our DNR.
