Jeffery, 'Timing' is the key to successful grazing. At 6-8", the grasses
are excellent, and can be balanced successfully. At 10-12", you've got
trouble. Dick Conklin

Subject: [Graze-l] Building a Grazing Ration
We have recently been working with a customer who is looking into
starting a grazing operation. We would like to help this customer build
a ration on the premise of providing 50% of their dry matter from their
pasture (22% CP). The feedstuffs they have available include alfalfa
hay, corn silage, earlage, cottonseed, and distiller's grains with
flexibility to use various supplements. It seems to be difficult to get
ADF and NDF low enough and to get RUP and NFC high enough given these
restraints. Does anyone have suggestions or sample rations that have
worked.
Thank you,
