Hi Folks,
just a reminder on feeding baleage that newborn kids with erupting
teeth are extremely susceptible to listeria in their environment. You want
to be extremely confident in the pH and moisture of your baleage if you
risk feeding it at kidding etc. Almost everyone I know who feeds baleage
on a regular basis has lost an animal or two to listeria attributed to
baleage feeding. Unfortunately, I know of two farms that lost numerous
kids (70+) at kidding from baleage that looked and tasted beautiful and
turned out to be prime for listeria. tatiana
