Dear Listers,

I'm thinking of buying a drum mower to cut oats for silage. The plan is to
cut the oats before it seeds and hopefully harvest at a time when the
nutritional value will be higher since for some reason the milk stage yields
a poor quality forage here. The idea is to cut, wilt, pick it up with a
forager and make silage. I'm concerned a drum mower will topple the oats
before it cuts it and some will be lost. Anyone have experience doing this?
The oats should be between 80 - 120 cm high at harvest time.

Thanks for all the help,

Liliana Sotomayor, DVM
