For those of you that would think a life of Golf & Sunshine abhorrent, you
might consider what we're doing: grazing a small herd (twenty, say)
seasonally, milking once or twice a day, and making cheese.
No crops, no worrying about milk prices or equipment failures. Just two
months of calving, six of milking, and driving to the farmer's market twice
a week.
It's not exactly relaxing, but compared to commercial milk production, it's
a walk in the park. And, you're still involved in the fun parts of farming.
We do have cheesemaking internships open in 2005, if you have a grandkid to
send our way.
