Folks,
Vaughan Jones, F. W. Owen, and all; what do we, or does anyone on the
Graze-L list, collectively know and / or remember about buck rakes,
outdoor hay curing and storage, haystacks, hay trellis (Norwegian,
Swedish)? Did commercial companies get into providing equipment for
servicing this harvest technique? What where some of the more and less
obvious considerations?
The Elysian Fields Pasture Project (www.ahtuttle.com) set aside this year
to test different infield Hay Trellis designs. It has been very wet here
in New York State; almost too wet at times to traverse even pasture and
hayfield sod, so installations are/where limited. The paradox is, this
would have been an excellent year to further test 1st and 2nd cuttings on
a wider scale as the system is intended to make excellent quality feed
(hay) somewhat regardless of the weather (but the field itself should be
above water to do so!), cheaply, and with minimal labor input.
Im searching for details as I would think due diligence demands
addressing the subjects use as Andre Voisin and F. Newman Turner
included the subject in their books.
Thank you in advance.
Be safe. Sincerely,
Royal A. Purdy
