>Folks,
>
>Vaughan Jones, F. W. Owen, and all; what do we, or does anyone on the
>Graze-L list, collectively know and / or remember about buck rakes,

A buck rake fits on the three point linkage of a
tractor and was invented by Paterson in UK and
promoted by Harry Ferguson (tractors) who
invented the three point linkage system about 60
years ago. It consists of about a dozen pipe or
angle iron four or five feet long tines on a
frame to sweep in mown hay, but used mostly for
silage making in the 1950s and 60s before forage
harvesters took over silage making.

The silage was swept in reverse and lifted onto a
wedge or bun stack then rolled and covered with
soil before plastic was available.

>outdoor hay curing and storage, haystacks, hay trellis (Norwegian,
>Swedish)? Did commercial companies get into providing equipment for
>servicing this harvest technique? What where some of the more and less

>The Elysian Fields Pasture Project (www.ahtuttle.com) set aside this year
>to test different infield Hay Trellis designs. It has been very wet here
>in New York State; almost too wet at times to traverse even pasture and
>hayfield sod, so installations are/where limited. The paradox is, this
>would have been an excellent year to further test 1st and 2nd cuttings on
>a wider scale as the system is intended to make excellent quality feed
>(hay) somewhat regardless of the weather (but the field itself should be
>above water to do so!), cheaply, and with minimal labor input.

>Im searching for details as I would think due diligence demands
>addressing the subjects use as Andre Voisin and F. Newman Turner
>included the subject in their books.

>Thank you in advance.
