It can be done and we have done it, though not in your climate. But, I
think that you are better off with square bales to drive through the paddock
pulling a wagon and flaking off the hay for the cows. With dry cows you
can feed just enough so that there will be very little waste, you can
spread the hay better than by just setting them, and polywire in the winter
can be a real pain.
