Bob,
In May of 1995 we began using New Zealand Friesian semen. We have used
it exclusively since that time with the slight exception of a few New
Zealand Jerseys as a cross. Since the value isn't there for the bull
calves or the out of window cows we didn't use any Jerseys this year.
Our Butterfat and Protein are very respectable for the NZ Friesians. We
had a good uddered herd prior to the change and have maintained it.
Conception has improved either because of the genetics or our strict
culling. Glad to see the milder temperatures here in the last two weeks
of our breeding season as that should help late conception.

Dave,
What breed of cows are you milking now? I had a chance to stop in your
place for a visit several years ago and you had Holsteins then. Have you
switched or cross bred?
