*** I suggest a Black Mouth Cur. They are not livestock guard dog per say
but will guard the whole farm. They are not roamers and are extreamly
aggresive to varmits and strange dogs. My dog will actually kill coyotes on
his own in the early summer when he can catch the pups. They are good watch
dogs in that they bark and look mean but are not prone to biteing people.
They are very loyal a gental to "their" family. Also fair cow dogs for
beef stock. A little rough for dairy cows. One local cattle hauler borrows
my dog when he has a mean bull to load as the dog will rip the bull a new
you - know - what if the bull gets agressive.
The only predators we have had to worry about since getting the BMC
are the owls that kill our ducks and I don't guess there is not much a dog
can do about them.
