>If I allow it, one of them will call
>me every few seconds on auction days. This starts at 5 am.
See I'd look at that and assume that my procedures were the problem,
not the technology. Why do my customers need to call me? What info
are they seeking? What other sources do they have to get it? Why are
those sources inadequate? What have I done to encourage so many
customer calls and have my actions caused the problem I am having?
I would never assume that the technology is at fault any more than
the computer is at fault when a program does exactly what I tell it
to. <G>
Here was a use we had for our cell phones just tonight. We have a
pipe that provides hose pressure water from the irrigation ditch. We
use it to fill water tanks for the jack, stallion and rams in pens by
the house. Tonight we didn't have any water pressure. Hubby at top
with extra pump to blow out the sediment (hoping that was the
problem) and I at the bottom watching the results. Rather than
walking up and down the orchard looking at the pipe or trying to yell
a quarter mile away we used the phones to communicate. Much simpler,
easier and less hassle.
I only have my phone on when I am available to take calls, from about
6 am until 9:30 pm.
