Bloat has not been solved in my part of the US. We experience bloat when
grazing green alfalfa, and also when grazing alfalfa roots if they are
beginning to sprout as they are right now in the first part of March.
To reduce the effects of bloat from alfalfa roots we keep the cows away from
them for a few days after plowing until they dry out some.
