Except it's illegal to do that here. In CO we have a strickt bag
limit of a single deer per year per person. A few exceptions to take
CWD infected deer are the only additional animals allowed. Bear are
also similarly protected and we even had to stop the spring bear
hunt. Which meant last fall we had over 13 bears on our mesa! Most of
hte wildlife is so protected that even if you are allowed to protect
your stock or crops you have only a few legal methods of take.
We have 8 ft tall fencing around our pastures to prevent the deer and
elk from eating them and the orchards to ruin.
I tried to get game damage fencing for an area I pan to see dot
stored brassicas and cereal but it was denied. Until I can keep the
deer off it there is no sense planting it as they will eat all of the
forage. We also use dot be able to get M-80 shotgun shells and
strings of firecrackers to set of scare bombs but not only are they
very restricted now, but the deer have learned to ignore them.
