Dave G.,
Perhaps we need a new co-op system or just more dairy farmers doing
their own thing. (Profitably)
But complaining about it won't change it. Coming up with ideas and ways
improve our lot has much more merit.
Sharemilking systems, Cow share systems. Make it work and industry and
the co-ops will want to get involved for their profit.
Then rules will change to give us even more opportunity. Cowshare
programs are a long ways from the original PMO. And sharemilking beats
shutting down profitable dairy farms.

Dave,
It's going to take a change of attitude "the US doesn't need its own
farmers, we will just import our food" (quote from AlGore, presidential
candidate) to the new reality that oil and shipping will be expensive.
Sure, there are young people willing to dairy but why work hard only to
have the market manipulated into over-supply by an unbridled monopoly?
Our co-ops have let us down. They were supposed to use Capper-Volstad
to
benefit the farmers.
