For the past 6 weeks we have been getting our milk picked up on a shorter
schedule because 4 milkings will not fit. To fit the hauler's schedule,
they pick up 3 milkings, then 1, then 3, then 1, etc. I have noticed that
there is a marked and consistent difference in the butterfat percentages.
The 1 milking pickups are running 0.3 to .04 percentages higher than the 3
milking pickups.
The same people pickup both types of pickups.
The 1 pickup milkings are evening milkings.
Our bacteria and PI counts are fine.
We are on about a 13-11 hour spread so there is less milk in the evening
milking.(usually).
The same people do all of the milkings.
Question: Why?
Thanks,
Clay
