To all,

Thank you so much for your responses to my request for your
advice and the stories about your individual paths. They
helped change a young mans life. This community I find
myself in is really quite amazing.

I have good news. The young man in question has decided to
apply to the 2+2 program at Vermont Technical College and
UVM. He plans to apply this year and defer admission for a
year and work on a farm before attending school.

He had at first resisted his teachers urging as all he
wanted was to get out of high school and earn some money.
This high lights his next hurdle as he comes from quite a
poor background. Fortunately the State of Vermont has
available several 4-year scholarships to Vermont students
who plan to stay in Vermont and dairy. We hope he will
qualify for one of these scholarships.

I must give all of the credit to his French teacher who
shares with me a love of oxen for recognizing this boys
potential and her continuing work to help him realize it.

Thank you for all your support.

Sincerely

Will Brooks
