animal, I'm not putting out my best stored feed, maybe with a more =
palatible
feed it would work, but I doubt it. Even now without snow, most are
preferring to eat what every grass they can grub off, topping off on =
hay.
In early spring turn out we do much the same, but move hay through the
paddocks with the flock/herd, but at this point of the year, they use =
the
hay to balance out the very low fiber in the grass.

Thanks for the alfalfa tips two weeks ago. I have tried to supplement =
with
hay to lengthen rotations and maintain gains during the summer as you =
just
mentioned - - but have had limited intake unless I lock animals into a =
lot
or sacrifice paddock. They seem to prefer walking about while taking =
short
grass down farther, except during some fall periods... I assume the lush
fall growth is just not as tasty.
Do you have any tips on supplemental hay palitability or is there just =
no
way to compete with grass?
Regards, Steve
