Are the cows back fenced when you break feed(use a hot wire) them?
Regrowth will be affected if they are allowed to back graze. I would
suggest that if they are back grazing for more than 48 hours then use a
back fence. If the cows are in milk and the fields are not too wet, we
have successfully used a tape hot wire to make a race to the back of the
field and break feed forwards. This way it is much easier to back fence.
Usually no heat is needed on this fence.
As a side note, it is generally accepted that if you are set stocking
(cows have the whole field for several days) then you can safely use
this method for up to 3 days. After this you are affecting regrowth.
