This doesn't seem logical to me.
I've had plenty of cows live to be 10 years old. The cows that lived to be 10
had the exact same environment and management as the cows that only lasted a
few lactations.
Since the cows shared the exact same environment, I'm pretty sure that it
wasn't the environment (nor was in luck) that explained theirlongeveity.
I think it was because of characteristics inherit to the cow.
In other words, it seems to me that it was her genetic makeup that made nearly
all the difference in longeveity.
