For me a good cow gets in
calf easily, doesn't kick my head off, no health issues and produces
well. Produces well, meaning that she pays her way and makes me a profit
with no extra effort on my behalf.

You're right. The cow that is virtually trouble free, the only vet contact
needed is a preg check, easy to milk (not just for you but also for the
relief milkers) and is an agressive eater (which ties in to your "produces
well" and ties in to a cow that maintains good condition, hence breeds
back).
