Haha thats a good story, did Jacky ever find out the truth?
No offence, but it ammuses me how some farmers place importance on colour!
Correct me if I am wrong but I dont believe colouration within a breed
alters production or management traits too much??? With the exeption of
extremely white cows, we often cull them as calves as they are more prone to
sunburn and facial exzema in the summers. Unfortunately I caught on that
one of our best families had a tendency to be more than 70% white, so I made
dad keep their calves, and so far we havent had any trouble with that
family! You have probably noticed that there are barely any of those white
looking Holstein-Friesians in NZ! The more black the better, but there is a
rule that a pure Holstein-Friesian must have 4 white feet, a white tip of
the tail, and I think a white patch on her forehead?
