I think "they" are planning to use the NAIS to "control"
diseases like =
hoof-and-mouth, which can spread more easily than BSE. I would like to =
know what sort of plans are being made for something like =
hoof-and-mouth. A response like that in Britain would be absolutely =
horrible. It makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better to have a plan to =
live with the disease if it arrives here.
I would like to know who is doing the planning, and how we can find out =
what they are planning, and have some input.

Subject: [Graze-l] National Animal Identification Systems
In my other groups there has been a discussion about "NAIS" or a
plan =
to have a National Animal Identification System. The idea is that =
animals can be tracked so that if one gets sick the disease can be =
stopped (read stop the spread of Mad Cow disease) by seeing where the =
animal has been, who it has been in contact with and so on.
