s a lot to ask of any coated wire AC or DC, especially in traffic areas =96=
gateway undergrounds are always passed through a protective plastic piping=
or conduit.
These topics border on another subject that hits a nerve. As much as I like=
and strive to nurture repeat customers, I want to return to a farmstead=
intent only to build more pasture capacity or provide a livestock handling=
solution for a client, not repair some prior fencing system misapplication=
or design oversight made by myself or some prior visiting =93low cost=94=
fence install competitor. When I install a fence system, I install it=
intent that it will last for decades - period; to accomplish this I require=
the best starting components and methods I can find. In New York State,=
U.S.A. as elsewhere, nobody wins resulting from a substandard initial=
fencing install. I'm a firm believer in thrift and less is sometimes more,=
but in fence installs shortcuts come back to bite you.
Rick Williams then wrote: =93=85.strongly recommend the use of MOV spike=
protection if using an AC power source since it is very common to have=
power surges on AC power lines from both storms and from switching=
transients, inductive loads, etc. These devices typically cost less than US=
$10 although some are better than others depending on the number of MOV's=
and how they bridge across the AC hot/neutral/and ground.=94
Good advice. The American made in-house brand fence energizer I use and=
Elysian =A9 now supplies to customers contains a bank of these MOV devices;=
it supplies 1260 Joules of protection on the power side internal on=
incoming and 4229 Joules of protection on the out going fence side of the=
device.
I hope this helps.
Be safe. Sincerely,
