Red China doesn't have a history of dumping enough dairy product on the US
market that would disrupt domestic prices. In fact Red China doesn't have
much dairying at all.
My point is that the Kiwis should quit the nonsense of not being subsidized.
National health care is a subsidy. A national policy of tweaking the
currency exchange rate is a subsidy. Exporting product to a country and not
paying the 15 cent per hwt marketing checkoff is a subsidy. Having another
country's vast military expenses protect world peace and the free flow of
goods is a subsidy.
Nor does it matter how many gallons of milk CA produces vs. what NZ
produces. The population of CA is larger than NZ. If NZ cares to produce
only that milk its population would consume????? But that's not the point
anyways.
The point is that dairy farmers worldwide should get together and stop the
race to the bottom low bidder activities. There are countries that will
never be capable of producing enough dairy products due to climate, limited
ag. acres, etc. Those countries should be the focus of dairy exports,
not dumping on countries that have their own dairying.
