Irrigated southern dairy for 1/2 share fall of 2008. Winter temps: highs 57,
lows 37
Summer temps: highs 93, lows 71 . These averages are taken from Winnsboro
Research
Station. This provides year round grass from cow friendly fescue and Bermuda
grass.
Farm consists of 820 acres in one block not broken by roads. Eighty % of
farm is irrigated
by one 300 acre pivot, one 200 acre pivot and several small pivots. Water
quality is high
and pumping depth is shallow. Grains and cotton crops locally grown.
Dairy facility: large swing parlor with feedbowl covers, cow indexing and
automatic
take-offs. Capacity to milk 300 cows/hour with 2-3 experienced milkers. Feed
lane on
exit for and baleage feeding if needed.
Farm capacity is 250- 500 cow plus replacements. Share milker furnishes
cattle, tractors
and 4 wheelers. Share milker receives all revenue from livestock sales.
Share milk
contract 3-4 years.
