looks at profitable grazing dairies. Common traits are that they feed corn
silage, have milking parlors and run fairly high stocking rates.
Given that hay yields are around 6 tons/A in a 3 cut system and corn silage
yields have been recorded at 38 tons/A using new corn silage specific
varieties, hay can't compete in a world of high fuel prices.
