Hi Brad - I believe you are correct when it comes to the meaning of
Nathaniel. Our son got his name from Nathaniel Morton who was the
secretary of the Old Plymouth Colony for many years. He came from
England on the boat which followed the Mayflower when a lad and was
adopted by Gov. Bradford.

I was the third NBC so this kid was to be the forth, my first name is
Neal. I needed a good N name. My mother had told me that she had always
liked Nathaniel. I looked up the meaning and I believe it was " gift
from God".

Brad - I know this is a bit off topic; however, I would like to know
where you came up with the name "Nathaniel". That is the name of our
older son who, like yours, is very resourseful when it comes to both
numerical and spacial abilities.

We actually have 2 sons and 2 daughters. In birth order they
are: Aleia, Nathaniel, Julian, and Marika. Aleia is a registered nurse
and lives close by. Nathaniel is married to Lori and have 2 little
grandsons for us. Nathaniel is my outside genius, can run any piece of
equipment he sees to pro skills within a half day seeing it along with
stepping in to care for cows and do AI. He is always figuring out how to
do every job we do in the quickest and efficient way there is. Julian is
the cow man. Last spring he self taught himself to do our AI and bred
most of the cows and heifers last year after spending the previous 18
months working in NZ and traveling around visiting the top jersey herds.
This winter He took a course on embryo transfer and has successfully
flushed several cows. Marika is a half year out of high school and is
taking classes at the local college. She is Oregon Jersey Queen and ran
for national last fall in Kentucky. She wants to run for Oregon state
dairy princess this year. After this she is planning to go to U of Minn.
and study dairy with emphasis on genetics. The farm we are on is a 3rd
generation dairy and our family is the start of a new name for this
farm. Our landlord and his wife are adopted family to us. To me the
biggest success a farm can claim is an enthusiastic next generation to
multiply the successes.
