Sounds like your orchid is doing just fine. Usually, Phals are fed each
watering with a dilute solution of fertilizer (10% of recommended mix). It
works well to also use a slow release fertilizer such as Osmocote in addition
to the regular watering. If potted in a bark mix, the higher nitrogen
fertilizer is better since the bark is decomposing and uses the N.
The Orchid Society of MN has several books on growing orchids that they sell
at their monthly meeting. The meetings are at Bachman's Heritage Room at
1:00 PM on the third Saturday of the month. There will probably not be a
meeting there until after the State Fair in October. Visitors are welcome.
As to your orchid, when done blooming cut the flower spike (stem) back to
just above the second or third node. That spike most likely will rebloom, in
addition to the plant sending out a new spike. This is one of the nice
features of phalaenopsis orchids,
