Hi Pat,
I haven't been to Texas, yet, but I looked up the cities you listed in in my
National Geographic Guide to America's Public Gardens. I've used it for my
travels in Washington state, British Columbia, Virginia, Pennsylvania &
Maryland.
Fort Worth has a botanic garden--109 acres, roses, Japanese garden, irises,
daylilies. San Antonio has a botanical garden, also. It's 33 acres of roses, old
fashioned flowers, Japanese garden, children's garden and native plants.
Oklahoma City has the Myriad Botanical Gardens, 17 acres of tropical and
subtropical plants, natives and a conservatory. There's the Hambrick
Botanical Gardens there as well. That's 2 acres of desert plants.
In Lincoln, there's the Sunken Gardens, a reclaimed dump that's now 1.5
acres of pools, aquatic plants, perennials and annuals. It's supposedly open
May thru October.
All these have websites. Happy hunting!
