A year ago I asked Doug Foulk why my Honeycrisp apple trees still
hadn't blossomed or produced fruit after seven years. He suggested I
not prune them at all this past March. I took his advice and noticed
today that both trees are loaded with blossoms! I've been told by
others that Honeycrisp takes longer than other varieties to bear fruit
but I was just about ready to cut them into firewood. Most of the
blossoms are in clusters of five or six. Should these be reduced to 1
or 2 apples per cluster? When is the best time/size to pluck off the
extra apples? 1/2 inch diameter?
