Master Gardeners make a difference in their community by creating social capital, 'networks of relationships that weave individuals into groups and communities'. Master Gardeners form groups that can 'reach goals that would have been far beyond the grasp of individuals in isolation', showing the positive effects of social capital (Putnam, R. and Feldstein L. 2003. Better Together Restoring the American Community. Simon & Schuster, New York). This is an archive of a Internet mailing list operated by the Master Gardening program at the University of Minnesota.
FarmToday provides a collection of mailing list archives for reference.
Internet mailing lists, or listservs are a way for people with mutual interest
to communicate quickly via e-mail.
A listserv is a list of e-mail addresses identified by a single name, such as
farmtoday@farmtoday.com. When an e-mail message is sent to the mailing list
name, it is automatically forwarded to all the addresses in the list.
Most e-mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes support mailing lists, which enables you to broadcast
e-mail messages to groups that you define. In addition, there are mailing list
servers such as the ones featured here that manage centralized mailing lists for groups of users.
