Unintentional Fireworks Victim

While this is off-topic it was such a special few moments that I wanted 
to share it with the group...

Last evening as fireworks began exploding all over the countryside, a 
terrified whitetail deer ran into my yard just below the vegetable 
garden.  It stood there wildly looking in all directions, but oddly it 
seemed to take some comfort from being at my place, as if she knew it 
was a safe haven of sorts.  She was not standing too far from me; she 
was aware of my presence, but then again she sees me tending my garden 
almost every evening as she crosses the road on her way to the pasture 
next to my place.

The only other time of year she would hear anything similar would be in 
the fall on the opening day of deer season when the sound of shotgun 
blasts can be heard from all directions just after dawn; it is possible 
that she might have lost her mother or a sibling during last years hunt.

After five minutes or so the initial burst of fireworks calmed slightly 
and the deer must have realized that the noises were not gun shots, but 
only annoying pops and crackles, so she looked at me one last time then 
shyly walked across the road and disappeared into the corn field.  It 
was a very touching experience.
