While there are strains which can throw Angel wing, most of the examples of

Waterfowl are gorgers and care has to be taken in their feeding, the faster
they grow the more likely they are to be susceptible.
There have been studies done on wild birds to prove the protein factor.
Populations of waterfowl which have shown no angel wing in many generations
are fed on a high protein feed while the youngsters are growing. They
exhibited Angel wing.
Youngstock from the same parents have been raised with and without protein
feed and the same results are shown.
