Hi all,
Just wanted to send a letter I wrote to you so that anyone who wants to provide feedback can... I hope everybody will start posting letters soon!!
Peace,

Dear Editor,
Ellen Goodman's piece on the recent ban of selling live lobsters at
Whole Foods was an interesting take on both sides of the lobster
debate. While people tend to have varying opinions on the lobster
issue, I think we can all agree that chickens, pigs, and cows in
today's factory farms should be treated with at least the same dignity
as the said lobsters.
Compared to lobsters in store tanks, which only spend several days or
weeks in this confined space, farm animals which we consume every day
are kept in far smaller spaces where they cannot even turn around,
spread their wings, or lay down, and they are confined to these spaces
for the duration of their lives, from birth to death.
Just because people see lobsters in the store tanks should not make
lobsters' comfort a higher priority than the billions of animals who spend
their lives suffering in painfully confining spaces. I think we
should applaud Whole Foods decision, while at the same time
encouraging companies and consumers
to take this issue a step further to protect the quality of life of
all the animals we consume, even the ones we are never able to meet.
